SPANISH MONARCHY HONORS JOSE LUIS GARCIA
San Antonio – Jose Luis Garcia was recently bestowed the formal Decoration of Spanish Knighthood, La Encomienda of “The Royal Order of Isabel la Católica en Grado Cruz de Oficial” granted on behalf of His Majesty the King Juan Carlos I de Borbón and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Presenting the royal medal was Ambassador Miguel Angel Fernández de Mazarambroz, Consul General of Spain, Houston. The decoration took place at a luncheon hosted by the San Antonio World Affairs Council at the San Antonio Country Club. The ceremony was attended by over 300 guests with Dr. Henry Cisneros, Former U.S. HUD Secretary-Clinton Administration, serving as Master of Ceremonies.

Jose Luis was honored for his distinguished public service career with the City of San Antonio and for elevating San Antonio’s profile in Spain and in the Canary Islands. He was also recognized for his protocol and diplomatic expertise.
Jose Luis dedicated his decoration to his parents, family and to the professional staff at the City of San Antonio. He holds an MBA in International Trade at Texas A&M International University, formerly Laredo State University and BBA in International Business Management from St. Mary’s University with honors.
The royal order was created in 1815 by King Ferdinand VII of Spain. Jose Luis joins the ranks of contemporary honorees including noted Colombian painter and sculptor Fernando Botero.
