Membership Information
Between January and March is membership renewal time. Each member will receive an email explaining the renewal process. If you are interested in joining you can upload the application at the bottom of the page and follow the instructions.
Membership in the Protocol and Diplomacy International – Protocol Officers Association (PDI-POA) is open to professionals in the field of protocol who currently serve, or have previously served, as Protocol Officers for any level of government (federal/national, state/province, county, city military, ports, airports, dignitary protection/liaison units in law enforcement agencies, foreign service officers, diplomats or consular officials), universities/colleges (public or private), corporations, museums/cultural institutions, international trade or diplomatic organizations (e.g. United Nations).
Benefits of membership include discounted annual meeting registration fees, periodic protocol announcements, access to educational/protocol experts for consultation and networking with over 200 protocol professionals around the world.
PDI-POA requires that all candidates for membership fill out the Membership Application-Renewal Form and submit a résumé for review by the Membership Committee. If, after reviewing your résumé, the Membership Committee determines that you should be in a different membership category or that you are not eligible for membership, you will be notified by e-mail.
Membership Categories and Dues:
Government/Military/Academia/Museums (Public Sector)
USD $150 annual membership
Applicants must:
- Be serving or have served in a protocol position in government/military/academia/ museum/non-profit trade association.
- Submit a résumé.
- Be reviewed by the Membership Committee for approval.
Corporate/Protocol Professionals (Private Sector)
USD $300 annual membership
Applicants must:
- Be serving or have served in a protocol or equivalent position performing protocol duties—coordinating inbound and/or outbound dignitary visits and events; working with the international community, Diplomatic or Consular Corps; etc.
- Submit a résumé.
- Be interviewed by the Membership Committee to discuss actual protocol experience.
- Be approved by the Membership Committee.
Application processing fee (new members only or renewals after March 31st)
USD $50
- This is a one-time fee unless membership has lapsed.
- This will be waived in subsequent years on renewals, IF
- The member is in good standing
- Dues are received prior to March 31st.
- Membership is from January 1st to December 31st.
