This workshop featured two educational sessions for protocol and international affairs professionals in the DC area. Chris Young, President of PDI-POA, will led an interactive session designed to reintroduce the basics of protocol, including managing official visits (and how to avoid blunders during said visits) as well as the origins of some of the “rules” of protocol and cultural etiquette training. The second session consisted of a panel moderated by PDI-POA’s own Leslie Lautenslager and featured executive assistants, schedulers, and personal aides—professionals who “have their principal’s ear.” As a veteran protocol officer and having served as an executive assistant herself, Leslie, along with the panelists, highlighted some of the most important things to consider and to prepare for when dealing with principals.
