Robert Hickey is a trainer at The Protocol School of Washington® where he presents on the use of titles and forms of address in official situations. Topics include: forms of address for private citizens; professionals and academics; federal, state, and municipal officials; armed services; diplomats and representatives to international organizations; foreign officials; royalty and nobility; and clergy. Also included are: joint forms of address; introductions; courtesy titles; style and usage; and precedence. 

He is the author of Honor & Respect: The Official Guide to Names, Titles, and Forms of Address. The book includes complete formulas for correspondence, invitation envelopes, place cards, introductions, and even what to call the VIP in conversation. Robert has been a member of PDI-POA since 2010 and served on the PDI-POA Board from 2011 to 2019.

LaDonna MyersMs. LaDonna L. Myers, Director, Mission Support Office, Headquarters, United States Space Force

LaDonna L. Myers is Director of the Mission Support Office for Headquarters, United States Space Force, Washington, D.C. In this role, she is responsible for establishing and implementing all administrative support services for the new military service and leads the organization’s human capital, facilities, knowledge management, and financial resources groups.

Previous to this role, LaDonna served as Director, Air Force Protocol providing guidance to field commands and served as an ambassador to 400+ protocol officers around the globe.

David NelsonMr. David W. Nelson, Deputy Social Secretary, Office of the Vice President, The White House

David W. Nelson is an internationally recognized authority on protocol and hospitality, strategic communication, and public affairs.

He has held senior positions at the White House, the National Restaurant Association, the Embassy of Switzerland in Washington, the National Archives Foundation, The Protocol School of Washington®, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

A trusted adviser and operations leader, David has helped shape policy, performance, and protocol at the highest levels of government, trade associations, diplomacy, nonprofits, and continuing education.

Flora TromelinMs. Flora Tromelin, Founder and CEO, FCT Strategies, LLC

Flora Tromelin is a French native, former U.S. military spouse, mom, travel addict, and the founder and CEO of FCT Strategies, LLC. Her experience includes 17 years of experience as a global leader and advisor for the U.S. Federal Government, responsible for cross-team communication and the management of cross-cultural international events. She has led multicultural teams of up to 35 people and managed events of up to 5,000 attendees. 

For 11 years, she worked for the American Battle Monuments Commission at the WWI American Cemetery of Belleau where she handled public relations and the organization of the annual Memorial Day commemoration. She met with her husband, Aaron Heimke, U.S. Army (Ret.), during her tenure as Chief of Protocol to the U.S. Ambassador to France and Monaco. In that capacity, she planned and organized 5 Independence Day receptions, and hundreds of high-level meetings and events, small and large. Flora now lives in Phoenix, Arizona, and offers her services as a consultant in event and project management, etiquette, cross-cultural communications, and organizational management.

Melissa WernerModerator: Ms. Melissa Werner, President, PDI-POA

Melissa Goitia Werner, CSEP, is Executive Director of the Office of University Events & Protocol and the Office of University Ceremonies. She is a Protocol Officer at Arizona State University and the co-founder of the North American Association of Commencement Officers (NAACO).

Melissa is a Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) and holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Public Relations from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University and a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. She completed training as a Protocol Officer and is a certified Intercultural and Etiquette and Protocol Trainer through the Protocol School of Washington® and has completed a certificate in Hospitality & Tourism Management Certificate through Florida Atlantic University.

Educational Webinars

Education of protocol professionals is an integral part of the mission of PDI-POA. Webinars are part of our expanding professional development and member engagement opportunities. They include educational presentations by featured speakers, along with a forum for viewers to ask questions of leading experts of protocol and diplomacy. To promote the instructional environment of the webinar, audio and video interaction for attendees is disabled, with interaction happening through the chat and Q&A functions of the Zoom Webinar platform.

Webinars are open to members of PDI-POA as a benefit of membership. Non-members are invited to attend as well; the non-member registration fee is $50 per person.

Each webinar session will be recorded and made available to PDI-POA members through the members-only Video Library. For non-member registrants, the recording will be available for 30 days after the session via a password-protected link that will be shared after the conclusion of the webinar.
