Participants will explore real-world examples of sports diplomacy and discuss how athletic events foster unity, dialogue, and collaboration across borders.
Protocol Supporting the Nation's Science, Technology, & National Security Mission - Wednesday, 23 July, 10:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. The U.S. Department of Energy’s 17 National Laboratories tackle urgent scientific challenges—from climate change to nuclear security—using world-class facilities found nowhere else. This session highlights the vital role of Protocol Offices in supporting distinguished visitors and advancing each lab’s mission in science, technology, and national security.
The Intersection of Tourism & Economic Growth: Miami's Competitive Edge – Wednesday, 23 July, 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Off-site at the Port of Miami (transportation will be provided). This session will explore the dynamic relationship between tourism and economic growth, using Miami as a case study for strategic development and global competitiveness. Participants will examine how Miami leverages its cultural, geographic, and economic assets to drive tourism, attract investment, and sustain long-term growth.
Behind the Lens: Expert Strategies for Managing Photos at Events – Thursday, 24 July, 9:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. In high-security, high-visibility events, managing photography can be one of the most complex logistical challenges. This session offers protocol and event professionals practical strategies for planning and executing seamless photography—from VIP portraits to large group shots—while balancing security, guest flow, and event integrity. Participants will leave with tools and techniques to turn photo chaos into a smooth, well-coordinated experience.
Share Your Scar Tissue: the stories that just make you laugh - Thursday, 24 July, 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. We’ve all earned a few battle scars in the world of protocol—now’s your chance to swap stories, lessons, and maybe even a few laughs with those who truly get it. This session is all about the behind-the-scenes moments that didn’t go quite as planned, and the wisdom we gained in the process. Think of it as group therapy... but with better name tags.
